Question

Two long wires shown below carry currents of 6.0 A each, in opposite directions and are separated by 10.0cm. http://cs-suse-4.ok.ubc.ca/autoedu/loadFile.jsp?user=bulent&tag;=A4Q4 A) Find the magnitude of the net magnetic field at midpoint between the wires. B) Find the direction of the field found in part a. (into the page, out of the page, down, left, etc...) C) At point P1 (10.0cm to the right of the wire on the right) find the magnitude of the net magnetic field. D) Find the direction of the magnetic field in part c. E) At point P2 (20.0cm to the left of the wire on the left), find the magnitude of the magnetic field. F) Find the direction of the field in part e.

Explanation / Answer

a)magnitude of the net magnetic field in the midpoint of the wires =0

as the force will be in opposite direction

b)direction in part a (here it is written part 1 )

it will be out of the page

as we know that filed due to I2 will be out of the page and due to I1 will be into the page

but at that position the field dueto I2 will maximum

c)in point P1 magnitude=mu/2*pi(I*(1/10-1/20))

so it will be 2*10^-7*6(0.05)=0.6*10^-7T out of the page

d)at oint P2 =mu/2*pi(I*(1/20-1/30))==0.2*10^-7T into the page

e) i dint find any e part in that figure
