Question
why does force=static friction? F=fsExplanation / Answer
Well....this becomes more of a "can U figure how my question is worded?" problem :>) So let's assume an inclined surface at 20° with a mass = 0.341 kg resting on the incline which has a coefficient of static friction = µs = 0.36 {note STATIC friction coefficient is NOT "µk"} Also notice that there is actually *too much* data given, since the coefficient of STATIC friction = µs = TANGENT of the angle of incline. ie TAN 20° = 0.36 = µs =>so the problem could have just given U the mass and the angle of incline, stating that this was the maximum angle before the mass would slide, and THEN asked for the maximum STATIC friction force.Related Questions
