Explanation / Answer

1) Candida yeasts: It is a resident fungus and able to grow at 37°C to colonize the gut. Mammalian digestive is the primary niche. Species including Candida albicans, C. tropicalis, C. parapsilosis, and C. glabrata.

Characteristics: It appears as large, round, white or cream colonies, which emit a yeasty odor on agar plates at room temperature. Used is extremely polyphyletic.

2) Cladosporium: detected in the gut. Present in the healthy human GI tract.

Characteristics: Species produce olive-green to brown or black colonies. commonly found on living and dead plant material. Wind dispersed.

3) Malassezia: Primary niche is the mammalian microbiome. The known niche is skin. It has lost the ability to synthesize their own lipids, so it is dependent on a host for its nutritional needs.
