Question

Laboratory Exercise Procedure Carefully follow the directions for each of the following experiments, recording observations, conclusions and answers on the appropriate section of the report sheet. 1. If one side of the DNA chain looks like this (see below): a. What does the complementary side of DNA look like? b. What does the mRNA chain look like if made off the original DNA strand? c. What amino acids are in the protein being made? (part a) DNA(complementary) mRNA (part c) Amino Acids (part h) mutated (part b) DNA DNA

Explanation / Answer

part b
mRNA

Note: Following steps are followed while solving above problem -
1) Simple complementary base pairing to form complementary strand. A binds to T and G binds to C.
2) Replace T by U in complementary strand to get the mRNA of the coding strand (original strand).
3) Just look at the genetic code table to get the corresponding amino acid of the codon.

Hope this helped!

DNA part a
Complementary DNA

part b
mRNA

part c
amino acid G C C Leu A T U A T U T A A Arg C G G T A A A T U Ser T A A G C C A T U Trp C G G C G G G C C His T A A A T U
