Suppose that a spring with a larger spring constant was used in this same apparatus. If a given mass were rotated at the same radius at which it had been rotated with the original spring, would the new period of rotation using the new spring be greater, or would it be less than the period of rotation using the original spring? Explain your reasoning.

I would think that the period of rotation would be shorter because k is in the denominator and T will decrease as K increases. The higher the spring constant of a string, the more force you need to exert on the string to extend it.

Please explain if you have a better explanation :)

The time period of a torsional spring is represented by
T=2(I/K)

where I is the moment of inertia about the axis of rotation and K is the spring costant.

since T is proportional to inverse of square root of force constant of the spring, T is larger for a spring with smaller force constant.
