34. Consider the protists, which are organisms in Domain Eukarya. Why is it use multicellularity as a defining characteristic for eukaryotes? (1 pt) 35. We discussed some benefits and some limitations of molecular clocks. benefit and one limitation. (2 pts) Explain one 36. We discussed several taxes (singular, taxis) in class. List three taxes, and give the stimulus involved for each. (3 pts) 37. Carl von Linne invented a classification system for living organisms, and two features of his system are still in use in today's method of classification. What are they? (2 pts)Explanation / Answer
1. it is inaccurate to use mutlicellularity as a defining characteristic for eukaryotes because there are organisms that are multicellular as well as organisms that are unicellular. For eukaryotic cells, the defining characteristic is the presence of complex organelles whicnafe present inside the membrane.
2. Molecular clocks are responsible for measurement of the change in evolution on the basis of the observations stating that some of the genes and genomic regions would evolve at consistent rates. An advantage of molecular clock is that it would be able to estimate the episodes of evolution that cannot be obtained from fossil records for example the silverwords origin. Disadvantage is that none of the genes would be marking genes with absolute precision.
