A circuit contains 4 resistors connected to a 9V battery. The resistors are connected as shown in the diagram below. a) Find the current through the 10 Ohm resistor by simplifying the circuit. b) Find the power dissipated in the 10 Ohm resistor.

20 ohm and 15 ohm are in series => net R = 35 this R is parallel to 7ohm net R1 = 7*35/(35+7) = 5.8333 this is in series with 10 ohm net R2 = 5.8333 + 10 = 15.8333 current = 9/ 15.8333 = 0.568 A this is the same current which flows through 10ohm resistor. Power dissipated (in 10ohm) = i^2 * 10 = 3.23 W
