Question

Question 11 (5 points) Embryonic development in all species relies the phenomenon of induction where one cell or group of cells directs the development of other cells. What piece of experimental evidence most strongly showed that embryonic cells can induce one Othat a fertilized egg split into two develops into twins using a GFP reporter to track the neural patterning gene in neural development otransplanting tissue from a particular region of one embryo to a different region of another embryo results in the change of that dominant mutations that create abnormal phenotypes can occur spontaneously the normal fate of the tissue surrounding the graft Save

Explanation / Answer

11. C

It is also shown by an experiement by Spemann. He took 2 salamander embryo in gastrula stage and cut a part of dorsal blastopore lip from one salamander and grafted it into the ventral position of other salamander embryo. The second grafted blastopore induced formation of notochord and somites just as same as its original blastopore. From this, a part of the mesoderm was found called primary organizer which were capable to induce any cell of surrounding areas so form a complete nervous system. This is independent of where the tissue is grafted. It can induce any cell at any place of a embryo.

12. B

The process of induction is initiated by binding of inductor molecule ( a chemical substance) released by organizing center to the nearby cell at the receptor. For eg, noggin , chordin , follistrain. Then further steps of induction take place.
