Use of immunology in detection or quantification methods. Discuss seperately the use of any of the technique in "Riott's Essential Immunology by Peter J. Delves. Seamus J. Martin, Dennis R. Burton, Ivan M. Poitt, Thirteeth Edition, Wiley Blackwell. (2017)." Include their methods of quantification and comparisions. Discuss any method that invloves immune response or products of the immune system between the research paper and the book.

Explanation / Answer
ELISA is the Immunological technique that we can used to quantify a protein molecule which is present in the given solution by using it's antigenic property. ELISA stands for Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay. In this technique we basically exploit the antigenic property of the protein molecules. In this technique we fix the antibodies against that particular antigen on the gel matrix. Then we put the solution on the gel matrix that contain the protein of our interest. After this we put the secondary antibody linked to an en Enzyme that has an ability to convert a chromogenic substrate into a coloured product. This secondary Enzyme binds to the other epitope of the protein molecule. The chromogenic substrate used in this technique is hydrogen peroxide that is converted into a coloured product with the help of an enzyme hydrogen peroxidase. Thus by quantifying the amount of coloured product formed we can detect the amount of protein present in the solution.
