Explanation / Answer

Term parafocal is used to describe it. Parafocal lens stays in focus even after changing magnification.

In microscopy, object is first seen using lower power lens during which coarse adjustment is first used after which image is cleared by using fine adjustment. When magnification is changed from lower magnification (4x) to higher magnification (10x) then only fine adjustment is sided. Only fine adjustment is used in case of higher magnification.

Total magnification is calculated by multiply magnification of ocular lens and objective lens.

For example if ocular lens is 10X and objective lens is 40x ,then total magnification is ;

10X x 40X = 400X.
