Question

    (a) Find the current in each resistor.      IR1 = 1      A  2---Select---updownleftright        IR2 = 3      A  4---Select---updownleftright        IR3 = 5      A  6---Select---updownleftright        IR4 = 7      A  8---Select---updownleftright        IR5 = 9      A  10---Select---updownleftright
    (b) Find the rate at which energy is being delivered to R2.
11      W IR1 = 1      A  2---Select---updownleftright        IR2 = 3      A  4---Select---updownleftright        IR3 = 5      A  6---Select---updownleftright        IR4 = 7      A  8---Select---updownleftright        IR5 = 9      A  10---Select---updownleftright        Apply Kirchhoff's rules to the circuit in the figure below, where R1 = 3.0 ?, R2 = 6.0 ?, R3 = 2.0 ?, R4 = 8.0 ?, R5 = 8.0 ?, V1 = 12 V, and V2 = 6 V. Find the current in each resistor. Find the rate at which energy is being delivered to R2.

Explanation / Answer

apply k-law :

R1 and R2 are in parallel connection so equalent r = 2 ohm
now apply k-law:
let i current flow through curciut:

V1 - iR5 -iR4 + v2 - iR3 - 2i =0
12 - 8i - 8i + 6 -2i -2i=0
20i = 18
i= 0.9 A

current throgh R3 , R4 and R5 is i= 0.9 A

current throgh R2 is i2= 0.3 A
current throgh R1 is i3= 0.6 A

energy throuh r2 = ((i2)^2)/r
= 0.015 watt
