spring force is conservative in nature meaning work done by spring depends only on intial and final postion not on the path

we can see the spring stretches by 2 cm in both cases finally

work done = - 0.12 J   work done is negative

it is independent of the mass , since work done by spring is integral of kx dx which is independent of mass
