Question
1. The primary coil of a transformer makes 240 turns around the iron core and the secondary coil of that transformer makes 80 turns. If the primary voltage is 120V, what is the secondary voltage (in V)?
2. The primary coil of a transformer makes 240 turns around the iron core, and the secondary coil of that transformer makes 80 turns. If the primary voltage is 120V and the primary current is 3A, what is the current passing through the secondary coil of the transformer (in A)?
These are very confusing to me and im not sure which equation I should use with them. All help is greatly appreciated.
Explanation / Answer
1)
V1/V2 =N1/N2
120/V2 =240/80
V2 =40 V
2)
N1/N2 =I2/I1
240/80 =I2/3
I2 =9 A
