a) resolve the vector in x and y direction and get the resultant from them. the resultant displacement is 12.04 making -156.24 dgree with x axis.

b) let the distance between the house is d, height of taller house is h2 and for smaller house is h1.

now from the triangle we can get h1=d*sin(52), and h2-h1=d*sin(21)=> h2= d(sin52+sin21). h2/h1= (sin52+sin21)/sin52=1.454. hence h2 is not greater than h1 by 1.5 times. so friend is wrong.
