a) Since there are a total of three phenotypes , out of which one cannot breed pure , indicating that its genotype is heterzygous. So there are a total of three genotypes , and the number of genes controlling the coat color in horses are two.

b) The mode of inheritance is incomplete dominance.

c) The palminos do not breed true , because as the genes are true , the palmino's genotype must be heterozygous.
