please help

The determined Wile-E-Coyote is after the elusive roadrunner again, using his patented Acme rocket-skates. The coyote starts off at rest, 90 m from the edge of a cliff, with a constant horizontal acceleration of 8 m/s2. The cliff is 140 m above the ground. Find the speed of the coyote when he reaches the edge of the cliff. Find the distance, horizontally from the edge of the cliff, where the coyote lands in the canyon. Assume that gravity is acting on him normally after he leaves the edge of the cliff, but that his skates are still in operation while he is in "flight."

Explanation / Answer

a.)90=0.5*8*t^2

t=4.743 sec

v=0+8*4.743=37.95 m/s

b.)140=0.5*9.8*t^2

t=5.345 sec

D=ut+0.5at^2=(37.95)*5.345+0.5*8*(5.345)^2=317.13 m

So D=317 m
