Question
.......................
The "tube length" of a microscope is defined to be the difference between the (objective) image distance and objective focal length: L=di%u2212fobjective. Many microscopes are standardized to a tube length of L = 160mm . Consider such a microscope whose objective lens has a focal length fobjective = 7.49mm .
a) How far from the object should this lens be placed? ( d=7.84 i got this correct)
b)What focal length eyepiece would give an overall magnification of -53?
(PLEASE ANSWER EXCEPT THIS: ( 10.165, 3.18, 0.01, 1.0076 )
c) What focal length eyepiece would give an overall magnification of -100?
i got this answer wrong ( 0.534 )
Explanation / Answer
the eyepiece acts as a simple magnifier adjusted to close view
so
Me = 25 cm / f_e
since Mo * Me = 150 and Mo = 10
then Me = 15
and
15 = 25 / f_e
so
f_e = 1.7 cm
