Question
Question 6 (9 points) Isosteres are molecules with similar sizes, shapes and polarities to different molecules. a. At pH 7.4, do you predict that doxorubicin isostere shown below will be attracted to linoleic acid? b. Explain using drawings of functional group interactions. OH OH "doxorubicin-isostere" Ho linoelic acid b. If the pH inside a cancer cell is 5.5, and the pH outside of the cell is 7, do you predict that the concentration of the isostere would be higher inside or outside of the cancer cell? Explain using equilibrium concepts for pH-senstitive groups.Explanation / Answer
1.At ph 7.4 the doxorubicin isostere will be attracted to linoleic acid there will be no attraction between these molecules because isosters leads to increase in lipophilicity and decrease in the permrability of the reaction.
2.The concentration of isosters would higher inside the cell because ph of solid tumor is maintained within a ph range 7 to 7.2 and vice versa.
