Question
You are designing the section fo a roller coaster ride shown in the figure. Previous section of the ride give the train a speed of 11.9m/s at the top of the incline, which is 39.1m above the ground. As any good engineer would, you begin you design with safety in mind. YOur local government's safety regulation state that the riders' centripertal acceleration should be no more than n=1.57g's at the top of the hump and no more than N=5.29g's at the bottom of the loop. For this intial phase of your design, you decide to ingnore the effects of friction and air resistance.
*what is the minimum radius you can use for the semi-cicular hump (in m)?
*what is the minimum radius you can use for the vertical loop (in m)?
Explanation / Answer
(F_{top} = mv^2/r - mg_ (v^2_{bottom} = v_0^2 + 2gh) (F_{bottom} = mv_b^2/r + mg) There's no figure so it's I can't solve any further without assumptions
