Three questions!
1) A charge of 4.185 nC is moved from a position on the y axis of 5.163 cm to a position on the x axis of 1.84 cm while there is a charge 39.831 located at the origin. How much work in micro-Joules did it take to move the charge?
2) A 5 cm spring is suspended with a mass of 3.8509 g attached to it which extends the spring by 1.7265 cm. The same spring is placed on a frictionless flat surface and charged beads are attached to each end of the spring. With the charged beads attached to the spring, the spring's extension is 0.0081 m. What are the charges of the beads?
Explanation / Answer
1)
change in potential energy=k*q1*q2*((1/0.05163)-(1/0.0184))
=5.5*10^(-5) joules=55.137 micro joules
