Basal Metabolic Rate or BMR is the engery used per unit time to keep one's body functioning, at rest. The energy used to maintain basic bodily functions add up to our basic metabolic rate.
Specific Dynamic Action or SDA is the extra heat produced by the body, which is above calculated basic metabolic rate, inorder to meet the energy cost of food assimilation and storage.
energy consumed > energy expended- there will be a positive energy balance,the extra energy will be stored in adipose tissue as triglycerides.
energy consumed < energy expended- the energy balance here will be negative and results in weight loss
energy consumed = energy expended= this will result in an equilibrium where the body weight is maintained as it is, as long as this condition goes on
