Question
The air above water is cooled as a result of the water absorbing heat from the air. How large a volume of air would be cooled by 1 degree Celsius if 0.68kg of water increases in temperature by 1.41 degree Celsius. The density of air is 1.29 kg/m3 and the specific heat of air is 1000 J/kg oC. The air above water is cooled as a result of the water absorbing heat from the air. How large a volume of air would be cooled by 1 degree Celsius if 0.68kg of water increases in temperature by 1.41 degree Celsius. The density of air is 1.29 kg/m3 and the specific heat of air is 1000 J/kg oC.Explanation / Answer
WATER TEMPERATURE INCREASE BY 1.41 DEGRE
so totatal heat gain by water=m*c*t
m=mass
c=specific heat of water
t=rise in temperature
s0 heat gain by water=.68*4.18*1.41=4.0077 joule
so heat loss by air=heat gain by water
so mass of air=(heatloss)/(ta*ca)
ta=temperature fall of air
ca=specific capacity of air=1j/g c
so mass of air=(4.0077)/(1*1)=4.0077
so volume=mss/density=4.0077/1290=0.003106 m^3
