Question
The shock absorbers in the suspension system of a car are in such bad shape that they have no effect on the behavior of the springs attached to the axles. Each of the identical springs attached to the front axle supports 160 kg. A person pushes down on the middle of the front end of the car and notices that it vibrates through five cycles in 3.0 s. Find the spring constant of either spring.
Note that you can add the spring constants together to find the total spring constant for the system but then must divide that by 2 to find the individual spring constant for each spring.

Explanation / Answer
T =3/5 =0.6 s
w= 2*3.14/0.6= 10.467
k= w^2*m = 10.467^2 *160
=
17528.736 N/m
