Question
$4.99 0 TASK 1 Wednesday 29st March 2018 ame: Date due: Signature: Date: The Digestive system - part one Create a travel brochure to explain the structure and processes of the main organs and accessory organs of the digestive system You have a client who is a full fat cheese sandwich on buttered whole meal bread. Describe what your client can expect from the journey through the digestive system. See the assignment brief for details. You will need to make sure you have considered 4 biomolecules (including fibre) represented in the sandwich. Explain how flood is propelled along the digestive tract. Include and apply in your brochure the enzymes endopeptidases and exopeptidases. Where are they found, what is their function and how will they digest the sandwich? The brochure should be in the form of a leaflet. The front is the cover only. The back page is for references only. Any diagrams (referenced) must be included in the 6 pages The work must be paragraphed and the pages must have a 2cm margin on all four sides. This to avoid overcrowding the brochure. A reference list must be provided on the last page - three references should be included although you may include more - up to five.Explanation / Answer
Digestion takes place in elementary canal withe help of digesting enzymes.
Starting from mouth where salivary amylase will digest starch into maltose to some extent not completely which give sweet taste to food if we chew for longer.
This partially digested food is swallowed through the oesophagus where no digestive activities take place. Only peristaltic movements help to pass the food into stomach.
In stomach 3 secretion are mixed in food
1. Hcl hydrochloric acid secreted by gastric gland which kill bacteria and dissolve hard material like bone etc. And as long protect food from spoiling.
2. Mucus protects inner wall from action of acid.
3. Pepsin enzyme which digest protein into smallefragments in acidic medium.
Now food is passed to small intestine where it is mixed with bile June and pancreatic Juce.
Bile make the medium basic and emulsify the food and break large globular fats into smaller globules and help in their digestion by lipase.
Pancreatic Juce has lipase, amylase, nuclese and tripsin. Tripsin digest protein completely.
Later on all the four component of food are completely digested as
Lipid into fatty acids and glycerol by pancreatic lipase
Protein into amino acid by tripsin
DNA RNA into its constituents by nucleated
Sugars into simple sugar like glucose by pancreatic amylase
.
Later on all these components are absorbed by villi present in intestinal wall into blood except fatty acids which are absorbed by lymph.
Remaining are discharged as excreta.
