Great, more things to worry about! (JK)

Please post your response below and then return later, or tomorrow, to read and respond to your classmates.

Search for “emerging viral diseases” – try the CDC/WHO (cdc.gov or who.int) web sites or good old Google.  Find 2 examples of new viral or bacterial agents that have emerged in the last 10 years.  What diseases do they cause and where did they possibly originate from?

Make sure you post the URL for the site where you've found this example.

What can we do to help limit antibiotic resistance and slow the emergence of "superbugs"?

NO DUPLICATIONS PLEASE.

Explanation / Answer

Here is lot of viruses and bacteria who have evolved during past 10 years. We can take the most important example of Superbugs. Here is the list of those superbugs. These organisms have evolved from antibiotic treatments and become there resistant.

For example-

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus

Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae

Multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus:

These bacteria cause infection in skin like sores and boil, but if infected through wound or internal, then cause serious infection, which may become lethal. These bacteria are resistant to almost all kinds of normal antibiotics like penicillin, amoxicillin, methicillin, and oxacillin.
