Question

Energy cost analysis

A house with doube pane windows has a cooling load of 590,128 btu/hr over a 6 month span (from April - Sept). That same house changed out windows to triple pane and managed to only have used 586,344 btu/hr over a 6 month span the next year (from april - sept.) Discuss the potential cooling energy savings from this. Make conlusions and recommendations of this idea and state whether or not if this is a good idea or not.

Explanation / Answer

As we can see from given data that due to triple pan window cooling load decreases because adding extra pan decreases the heat loss through window and hence it reuire less load to maintain inner temperature of room Therfore it is good idea to provide three pan window in comparison to double pan window or single pan window because by providing three pan window in house cooling load decreases and it will save money.
