As part of my Engineering class I am going to be an assessment to an industry. The main purpose of the assessment to this induestry is to help the industry to save and control costs. I need from you very good reccomendations on how to help the industry to save money JUST by checking Capacitor Banks outside. Good recommendations for checking Capacitor Banks outside. And also good recommendations for Insulation air in the industry since we want to decrease the voltage of the transformers from 420 degrees to 380.

generally in an electrical industry cost and safety is a very important task, since day by day the technology and the electrical consumers are increasing through out the world. in an industry due to more machines we more load that requires more reactive power to run than the real power during normal peak hours we cant draw huge reactive power from the transmission lines which causes a huge damage to the transmission system and which may lead to fault in the power system for example if a machine has to start it draws more power at te time of start and now a days we use induction motors a lot which require reactive power a lot so in industry we maintain reactive power supply equipments additionally so that we dont create additional damage to the transmission system . for an industry the have adittional penalty amount for drawing more reactive power creatting disturbance to the power system network. so the are charged general indutrial amount for real power and aditional amount for reactive power over consumed. sometimes the power which we recieve may not have good power factor which causes a problem in the real and reactive power supply. if we have lagging power factor the machines draw more reactive power for which the industry may be peanlised so in order to over come we use capacitor banks in the power industry
the capacitor banks are placed between the transformer and load , these capacitor control the reactive power required and absorb the additional reactive power sincde adittional reactive power causes adittional losses in the windings of the machine
maximum we use paper impegranated capacitor banks which are either in delta connected
so by using capacior banks you can create additional reactive power supply , we can control the power factor , we can absorb the additional reactive power and hence there must be a monthly check for the capacitor bank since it is a huge saving in money
generally capacitor bank can be inside substation or outside we have no particular rules but depend on the size and rating of the system .
a tranformer is the heart of the power system without which we cant send the power
with the help of a transformer we can step up or step down the voltage and during this process it creates a huge heat in the windings of the transformer and this heat may damage the syytem and as the load on the transformer increases the heat generated increases which may damage the transformer so hence we use additonal cooling fans and air blow fans to reduce the heat produced
