Question

What is the result of connecting Probe1 and Reference1 across Z2 as shown? Ref1 will create a short circuit to earth and may cause the RCD to trip. Oscilloscopes should only be used on extra low voltage (or less) power supplies, so a power scope should be used instead. Ref1 will cause the oscilloscope chassis to float to the earth referenced voltage between Z2 and Z4. Ref1 should be moved to the same junction as Probe1 to prevent potential differences. Ref1 should be connected to the circuit in series with a large value resistor to stop leakage current. Ref1 shouldn t be connected to this circuit since the circuit is already earth referenced.

Explanation / Answer

The answer is ref 1 will cause oscilloscope to float to the earth referenced voltage between Z2 and Z$4 as as Z2 and Z4 are sereis and Z4 is already earth referenced
