Question

1- What is the ac excitation system for the generators ? and how does it work ? What's the purpose of it ? 2- what it the hydrogen cooling system for the generators? How does it work? And what's the purpose of it 3- what is the seaoil system in generators? How does it work ? What's the purpose of it
I want the answer for them to be brief not too long like short answers with breif explaination :) thnx 1- What is the ac excitation system for the generators ? and how does it work ? Explanation / Answer

1)

Excitation system provides the necessary flux for generation of voltage. According to Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction , when flux cuts a conductor e.m.f is induced.

In ac excitation system, ac current is converted into DC current using thyristors and rectifiers. Excitation system is fixed on the rotor of the generator.

2)

Cooling is very important for generators. It is necessary to keep the generator temperature under some limit , otherwise winding will be damaged due to overheating.

Hydrogen cooling is one of the best and efficient cooling method. In this cooling , hydrogen gas is circulated through the windings (in the cooling ducts ) to take the heat away from the windings. Many cooling ducts are provided in the generators for this purpose.
