Question

This project is designed and fabricated by considering the code of conduct and standards of OSHA which is Federal agency under the U.S. Department of Labor, the OSHA has a mission to provide a safe environment, protect public safety and health. OSHA has no specific standard or code for the regulation of RADAR system and its related equipment, but there arc guidelines and safety precautions provide information to the potential health risk associated with radiofrequency and microwave radiation. The code [1926.54(1)] is for Construction which limits worker exposure to 10 mW/sq.cm. For construction work (including the painting of towers. While this project has much lower exposure level, and it falls within safe region. Along with these standards it is important to consider the safe distance from equipment. The safe distance is 0.2m if RADAR's antenna is rotating and if it is transmitting in stationary position then safety distance is increased to 6m. We have considered some important standards of OSHA and other guidelines to make sure that our project is completely safe for people who have continuous exposure to RADAR's radiofrequency waves. It was an important aspect to be considered because the people who will use this project in their house for security purpose should know about potential health risk associated with it. According to fundamental cannon of ASME which states that "Engineers shall hold paramount the safety, health and welfare of the public in the performance of their professional duties". So, our project is completely safe to implement within residential area or any private sectors.
