How I can make an analysis to any circuits have inductors and capicitors , When it be short circuit or open circuit Please explain ?? And how we can recognize the time more than zero or less than zero Please explain a lot since I have an exam ??! Explanation / Answer

If any circuits containing inductors and capacitors

first we will see about inductor :the current through inductor can not changed instantly or suddenly so curerrent through inductor is taken as state variable .when circuit in staedy state the inductor is short circuted and when circuit at transient that is when switch closing or opening as the inductor doesnt allow sudden change so it will be open circuited.

coming to capacitor:voltage across the capacitor can not suddenlyso voltage across capacitor is taken as the state variable .when circuit isin steady state ot time tendsto infinity the capacitor becomes opencircuit and at transient time it will become short circuited .

coimg to timimg instants before when swuitch is closing or opening the circuit is at steady state

and t=0- is just before switch operation

t=0+ is just after the switch operation this is called transient period

t=infinity just steady state time ...
