However, there are numerous concerns related to their use, such as effects on society and health. Name a current cell-phone issue that might require Fourier analysis to obtain a full understanding of this issue and its implications. Provide a discussion of how Fourier analysis might be used to better understand this issue.

Explanation / Answer

Cell phones are a must and very common electronic gadget today. Without cell phone, its a cut off from rest of the world. When a technology comes with its use and advantages, it has its second side as well. Excessive use of mobiles comes with exposure to electromagneic radiation in our routine. We get sun light or not, but we are exposed to this electromgnetic radiation by virtue of cell phone.

Routine exposure of electromagnetic radiation, paerticularly when cell phones are enar to the body, the cardiac activities are affected and in turn the heart rate variability. This can be estimated by studying the frequency analysis of the ecg of the person under test. The frequency domain abnalysis of ecg can be done using the fourier transform (FFT) anlysis. The FFT analysis converts the time domain ecg into frequency domain where, the frequency of different harmonics can be observed. A normal ecg is periodic signal and its frequency pattern can be signature of health pattern. Any abnormality or deviation from the normal one can be detected by using the FFT of ecg.

The arrhythmia can be accountd for abnormal frequency signal and their magniude can also be detected. The fourier analysis can be applied on pre and post treatment of the arrhythmia occured on account of over exposure of cell phones. In FFT or frequency domain graph, it consists of harmonics of siganl at different frequencies. There will be regular harmonics of regular ecg components howerver, the abnormality or arrhythmia harmonics will be a lower side and the same can be detected by omparing or computing the peformoance parameters like psnr, mse etc.
