Now let's change the value of R3 by adding 1 Ohm, and then determine how much current will now be going through the Ammeter. Assume that the Ammeter can be represented by a 5 k Ohm resistance. Model the bridge circuit (with the ammeter removed) as a Thevenin equivalent circuit. Find Voc, (between the terminals where the Ammeter was connected). Find Rth by zeroing the independent voltage source and finding the equivalent resistance. Next conned the 5kOhm resistor (that represents the Ammeter) to the Thevenin equivalent circuit, as a load, and calculate the current through the 5k resistor.
