Question
Fixed, Color Code Resistors The fixed, color-coded resistors that are available to us in this laboratory have the standard E24 design values. With this standard, there are 24 design values in every decade. Figure 5 shows the design values for the decade 100 to 10000. These resistors have tolerances of t5%. For example, when the design value is 100 S2, the actual value should lie somewhere between 95 and 105 n. All of our fixed resistors are able to dissipate up to watt ofelectrical power. (Beyond watt, damage may occur to the resistor.) In every decade, there are 24 resistance values, spaced (approximately) logarithmically. For example, for the decade 1000 to 1000 SQ, the resistor values are as shown in the above chart. As a second example, for the decade l k to 10 k Q, the resistor values are 10 times those shown above.Explanation / Answer
a)..For 2.4kohm Resistor--
1st band is Red(2),
2nd band is Yellow(4),
3rd band is Red(multiplier(100))
4rth band is Gold (+-5 % tolerance).
Minimum value =2.28kohm
Maximum value =2.52kohm.
b)..For 6.8kohm Resistor--
1st band is Blue(6),
2nd band is Gray(8),
3rd band is Red(multiplier(100))
4rth band is Gold (+-5 % tolerance).
Minimum value =6.46kohm
Maximum value =7.14kohm.
c)..For 24kohm Resistor--
1st band is Red(2),
2nd band is Yellow(4),
3rd band is Orange(multiplier(1000))
4rth band is Gold (+-5 % tolerance).
Minimum value =22.8kohm
Maximum value =25.2kohm.
d)..For 68kohm Resistor--
1st band is Blue(6),
2nd band is Gray(8),
3rd band is Orange(multiplier(1000))
4rth band is Gold (+-5 % tolerance).
Minimum value =64.6kohm
Maximum value =71.4kohm.
