Explanation / Answer

As the carbon-dioxide level is increased in the blood, more amount of hydrogen ions are produced and this decreases the pH. Due to the increased carbon-dioxide level and the subsequent decrease in pH, the affinity of hemoglobin for oxygen is reduced. With the result oxygen gets dissociated from hemoglobin and the oxygen dissociation curve shifts to the right. Therefore, oxygen transport by hemoglobin decreases as carbon-dioxide increases and the pH decreases. So, the correct option is option D.
