Question

Pretend that gravity doesn't exist and that instead the Earth is a giant ball of negative charge. Suppose also that every person has a net positive charge. The attraction between the negatively charged Earth and positively charged humans would mimic the attractive force of gravity. But can the electric force replicate gravity perfectly? In other words, if you lived on this charged Earth, would you notice any significantly different effects from the usual gravity-based Earth? There are several things you could mention, but be sure to consider if there would still be a mass-independent value of g. Find the total electric field at point P due to the charges A and B. Specify this field by giving both its magnitude in N/C and its direction (as an angle from the +x axis).

Explanation / Answer

Answerind question 6

No ,gravity field can not be imitated by electric field. The reason behind this is that gravity field is always attractive but electric field will repel each person to other as all have negative charge and like charge repel each other .Though Earth will atract each person but other person will also repel the one particular person so we can not put electric field in place of gravity field to expalin the gravity. The total laws for that planet will be different from earth having gravitational field.
