Question
Experiment 4 investigates the relationship between energy (in the form of heat) and light and also the nature of light itself. You will build your own passive solar oven and test it to see how much of the available light energy you can capture and turn into heat energy. You will then collect the spectra of several light sources and compare them. After you have read the experiment, answer the following true/false questions. Energy is the same as power. In this experiment we will measure the change in mass over time Water will be used to store energy. We will be measuring the emission spectra of various light sources. The air around the oven is used to insulate the oven.Explanation / Answer
1-Energy is the same as power is true as light will fall with respect to time.
2- In this experiment we will measure the change in mass over time is correct. Because as we change the light (i.e., varying the spectrum of light.) the heating of the oven will be varied and this can be seen by the change in mass of the substance with time which is used in the experiment.
3- water will be used to store the energy may be correct. It depends that after heating we use water as a source of heat somewhere.
4- we will be measuring the emisson spectra of various light source is correct. By the measuring the rate of change of mass and heat absorbed etc
5- the air around oven is used to insulate the oven is correct because air is an insulator and will not let the heat flow to any other material.
