Question
1st video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAhBA8fyvMU&t=208s
2nd video (solar rotation) use this video to determine how far does the spots have moved.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pB6SOY1RxBM&feature=youtu.be
I am actually confused on what the teacher is saying in the 1st video, he explains on what to do for the lab ( we have to calculate the velocity km/sec on the four labeled spots) and 2nd video is actually a video that we are using to find the four spots and measuring it on how far it has moved.
Thank you so much in advance!! it will be a huge help if anyone can give me some helpful tips on it!! or calculations on how to find velocity
Explanation / Answer
Basic formula for velocity is v= distance / time taken
we want to find the velocity of spots in the sun
so first we calculate the how far the spot is moved and also note that how much time taken to move that distance
suppose if spot moves 6cm i,e 1cm=1*10-5km
so distance(d) moved is 6*10-5km
Let time(t) taken to reach the distance is 1 min = 60 sec
so now velocity v=d/t =6*10-5 km/60 s =1*10-6 km/s
similarly caluculate velocity for four spots
