It has zero resistance as long as the current through it remains less than 3.0 A. If the current reaches 3.0 A, the fuse "blows" and thereafter has infinite resistance. Switch S is closed at time t 0. When does the fuse blow? (Hint: I-i 1-e a) does not apply, Rethink .RI-e) Fuse (a) t the tolerance is +/-2% Question Artemptst eers wsed

Explanation / Answer

Given that R= 15.0 ohm , L= 6.0 H

And E= 1.0 V

value of current (i) = 3.0 A

Since the resistor is in parallel with the fuse, which is 0 ohms, we can ignore the resistor.

Hence the circuit is purely inductive circuit

in a purely inductive cct,

E= L*(di/dt)

so, time = current*inductance / voltage

T= L*i/E

so, T= (6 *3)/1 = 18 seconds

hence the fuse will blow in 18 seconds.
