1. ENGINE DRIVEN PUMP As long as the engine is operating the Engine Driven Pump will be powered by the accessory driveshaft. EDPs serve as the primary hydraulic flow and pressure supply for the hydraulic system. It is used to force the fluid from the reservoir to rest of the hydraulic circuit by converting mechanical energy into hydraulic energy.
2. Reservoir
The hydraulic fluid reservoir holds excess hydraulic fluid to accommodate volume changes from: cylinder extension and contraction, temperature driven expansion and contraction, and leaks. The reservoir is also designed to aid in separation of air from the fluid and also work as a heat accumulator to cover losses in the system when peak power is used. Reservoirs can also help separate dirt and other particulate from the oil, as the particulate will generally settle to the bottom of the tank.
3. NRV
A check valve is the simplest type of directional control valve used in hydraulicsystems. Check valves stop the flow of fluid in one direction and allow free flow in the opposite direction. They are also known as non-return valves.
4. Emergency pump
In case of EDP failure the emergency pump is used to keep the system running. The emergency system pump may be electric-motor driven or it may be hand operated.
5. Accumulator
Accumulators are a common part of hydraulic machinery. Their function is to store energy by using pressurized gas. One type is a tube with a floating piston. On one side of the piston is a charge of pressurized gas, and on the other side is the fluid. Bladders are used in other designs. Reservoirs store a system's fluid.
6. Selector valves
A selector valve is used to control the direction of movement of a hydraulic actuating cylinder or similar device. It provides for the simultaneous flow of hydraulic fluid both into and out of the unit. Hydraulic system pressure can be routed with the selector valve to operate the unit in either direction and a corresponding return path for the fluid to the reservoir is provided.
7. Automatic cut-off valve
