1)differences can be compared by comparing the standard deviations calculated from the x bar charts, earlier the deviation were measured by the considering the length of the range interval but nowadays because of computers calculating standard deviations became easier, and calculating differences became accurate.
2)different within machine variations affects the four sets of charts as the range or the standard deviations of all the pair of charts would differ.
3)yeah ! it is absolutely possible to detect the difference in shift operation if the graph shows somewhat same values for a period and then the change between shifts, can change the average value that one got previously.
4)an irregular trend in the r graph or x bar graph can show the diffrence in the molding materials, by showing variations in the trend of the graph.
