Question

For each hypothesis below, state whether or not it was supported and explain your response.

Hypothesis: Bacteria not visible to the unaided eye will be visible after culturing.

Hypothesis: Many different types of bacteria will be cultured from a single sample of soil.

Hypothesis: The amount of bacterial growth resulting from the soil-treated finger will decrease as the frequency of hand-washing increases.

Hypothesis: The amount of bacterial growth in the treated segments of the Petri dishes will be greater than on the control segments of the Petri dishes.

Hypothesis: Different groups will have different quantities of bacterial growth for the same treatment.

Explanation / Answer

First hypothesis-It is supported because here the testing object and aim is clear.

2nd hypothesis -This hypothesis can be supported principally because here we need to assume a definite result for a particular test, which has done in the hypothesis.

Note- each hypothesis requires promptly to assume a definite result, then testing can process to check whether the hypothesis wrong or correct.

3rd hypothesis- this is also correct hypothesis because here we are selecting two axis bacterial growth and handwashing process.

4th hypothesis- this hypothesis is not acceptable because we here are not expressing which type of treatment is doing. For a hypothesis we have to clear about main factors of the test.

5th hypothesis- this is also not acceptable because here which types of groups are discussing.
