Question
i have some physics questions. need all correct answers please thanks
A mass of m- 2.30 kg is released from rest at the top of an inclined plane. It slides a distance of L-2.79 m down the plane inclined at an angle of ? 38.1° and then a distance of d 3.322 m along a horizontal surface (Figure 1). The plane and flat surface have the same coefficients of friction. Figure 1: Diagrammatic representation of a block of mass m placed at the top of a plane of length L and inclined at an angle of ? degrees to the horizontal. The plane slopes down from left to right before encountering a horizontal surface. When the mass is released, it slides down the length of the plane and then along a distance d across the horizontal surface.Explanation / Answer
1) PE = m g h
and h = L sin(theta)
PE = (2.30) (9.8) (2.79 sin38.1)
PE = 38.8 J ....Ans
2) from work-energy theorem,
work done by gravity + work done by friction = change in KE
m g L sin(theta) + Wf = 0 - 0
Wf = - m g L sin(theta)
Or Wf = - uk m g d
(both are work done by friction)
3) - uk m g d = - m g L sin(theta) = - 38.8
(uk)(2.30) (9.8)(3.322) = 38.8
uk = 0.518
