Question
A dircular loop of wire with a radius of 20.0 cm and oriented in the horizontal xy-plane is located in a region of uniform magnetic field. A field of 1.5 T is directed along the positive z-direction, which is upward (a) If the loop is removed from the field region in a time interval of 3.0 ms, find the average emf that will be induced in the wire loop during the extraction process (b) If the coil is viewed looking down on it from above, is the induced current in the loop dlockwise or counterclockwise? O dockwise O counterclockwiseExplanation / Answer
Part A.
Avg EMF is given by:
EMF = -N*d(phi)/dt
phi = B*A
EMF - N*B*dA/dt
dA = Af - Ai = 0 - pi*0.2^2
B = 1.5 T
N = 1
dt = 3*10^-3 sec
So,
EMF = -1*1.5*(0 - pi*0.2^2)/(3*10^-3)
EMF = 62.83 V
Part B
Area is looking towards us in +z direction and EMF is postive, So from right hand rule current is Counter-Clock wise.
