Explanation / Answer

I am answering first question as question to be answered is didn't mentioned

The EMF supplied is effectively RMS voltage

So Irms = Vrms/Z = 120/Z

where Z is impedance of circuit

R = 240 ohms

Xc = Capacitive reactance = 1/wC where w = 2*pi*60 Hz

Xc = 1/(60*15e-6*2*3.14) = 176.93

XL = Inductive reactance = wL = 2*pi*60*20e-3 = 7.54

Z = sqrt(R^2 + (Xl - Xc)^2) = sqrt(240^2 + (7.54-176.93)^2) = 293.76 ohms

Irms = 120/293.76 = 0.408 A = 0.41 A (Rounded to 2 significant digits)
