here Vtg = 45 mph ; Vpt = 5 mph

for a person outside the train,

two speeds are opposite to each other

so relative Speed Vpg = Vpt - Vtg

Vpg = 5 - 45 =- 40 mph

and is a driection opposite to train moiton . i.e south

so

T = 1/9.81 + 1/9.81

T = 0.203 secs

R = 1 * 0.203 = 0.203 m
