a) i) the current through bulb A would decrease, it would in fact become zero as the potential difference across it is zero.

ii) bulb D remains same as the potential difference across bulb D does not change.

iii) bulb C increases as the potential difference across C increases.

iv) through the battery increaes due to decrease in effective resistance of the circuit

b) potential difference across bulb A becomes zero, hence decreases

ii) potential difference across bulb D remains same

iii) bulb C increases, as the potential difference across A becomes zero, the total potential difference of battery appears across C

iv) potentaial difference across battery remains same, if the internal resistance is negligible
