Question

please tell me how to slove it

VI. Two long wires, each carrying 10.0 A, lie along the normal to net the page. The net magnetic field is zero at O (midway between the wires), and at a point to the right of 12 points along the y-axis as shown. Which of the following statements is true? [a] Both I1 and I2 point into the page [b] Both 11 and I2 point out of the page. [c] 12 points out of the page and I1 points into the page [d] 11 points out of the page and 12 points into the page [e] Bnet - 0 regardless of the direction of the two currents VII. A loop of conducting wire is placed with its plane normal to an external time- dependent magnetic field B(t). If the induced current in the loop is in the direction shown, then, as a function of time, the magnetic field B(t) B(t) a] is positive [b] is negative [c is increasing with time [d] is decreasing with time [e] does not change with timee loop

Explanation / Answer

VI) Ans: (b)

For the net field to be zero at O, field due to 1 and 2 must be in opposite direction while they must be in same direction at point P.

Use right hand curl rule to determine the direction of of the field due to the current.

The magnetic field made by a current in a straight wire curls around the wire in a ring. You can find it by pointing your right thumb in the direction of the current in the wire and curling your fingers.

So, when both the currents are pointing out of the page the we get the desired result.

VII) (d)

The original field in into the page.

CounterClockwise current induces filed in direction out of the page.

Thus the field decreases.
