Question
Rank the accelerations in each of the four sections according to magnitude, smallest to greatest.
1)AB is (=)(>)(<) BC, CD, OR DE
2)(The answer from the previous question is) (=)(>)(<) than/to BC, CD, OR DE
3)(The answer from the previous question is) (=)(>)(<) than/to BC, CD, OR DE
Justify your ranking
A car is traveling at a constant speed along the road ABCDE shown in the drawing. Sections AB and DE are straight. Rank the accelerations in each of the four sections according to magnitude, smallest to greatest. 1)AB is (=)(>)()()(Explanation / Answer
Since the car is traveling at constant speed, the only time there is any acceleration is when it is curving, and the sharper the curve the greater the acceleration (per the equation a = v2/r, since r is in the denominator, the smaller r is the greater a is).
The rank of the accelerations is: AB and DE are equal at zero, then CD, then BC is the highest.
question 1: AB is <BC, <CD, =DE
question 2 and 3 -- I don't get it, what are they asking? what is "the answer from the previous question"? It has three answers.
Anyway the ranking is okay.
