Question

The Relativity of the length: Length contraction Two spacecrafts A and B are moving relative to each other constant velocity. Observers in spacecraft A see spacecraft B. likewise, observers in spacecraft B see spacecraft A. Who sees the proper length of either spacecraft? observers in spacecraft A see the proper length of spacecraft B. Observers in spacecraft B see the proper length of spacecraft A. Observers in both spacecrafts see the proper length of the spacecraft. Observers in neither spacecraft see the proper length of the other spacecraft. In a baseball game the batter hits the ball into center field and takes off for first base. The catcher can only stand and watch. Assume that proper length. The runner measures both the proper time and the proper length.

Explanation / Answer

If they are both moving at the same velocity but towards each other, then with respect to each spacecraft, the other is moving twice the speed. this means they see the same but incorrect length length, hence A is correct. An observer in a fixed frame not moving with the spacecrafts would also see an incorrect length but this length will be different from as seen form the spacecraft
